Designing for
climate resilience
The city’s hot, dry summers, characterized by intense solar radiation and low humidity, place high demands on cooling systems, while cold winters lead to significant heat loss, requiring a balanced energy strategy. The project integrates passive and active design strategies that mitigate climate challenges, while also enhancing energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
Passive shading & site planning
Façade treatments, canopies and landscape elements manage solar exposure, reducing summer heat gain and cooling demand.
Natural ventilation & air quality
Orientation, window placement and airflow pathways harness prevailing winds for natural cooling and better indoor air.
Net zero, nature & wellbeing
Three strategies work together: clean energy keeps operations carbon free, green terraces and water systems restore the site, and daylight-led design keeps occupants healthy.
Net zero operational carbon
To truly achieve net zero operational carbon, WTC Yerevan harnesses the power of clean, renewable energy. On-site solar energy solutions work in tandem with off-site renewable sources, ensuring that the buildings operate independently of carbon-intensive energy grids.
Biodiversity & water
Biophilic design elements, such as lush green terraces, planted interiors and integrated landscape features, actively purify the air, reduce stress and enhance cognitive function. WTC Yerevan prioritizes water conservation through an integrated system of potable water tanks and rainwater collection.
Rainwater collection & storage
The tower’s rooftop and façade capture rainwater, directing to a storage system which is stored and filtered in a dedicated underground tank
Greywater recycling
The building collects and treats greywater from sinks repurposing it for irrigation.
Designed for wellbeing
Daylight optimization is a fundamental pillar of WTC Yerevan’s wellness-driven approach. Thoughtfully designed façades and interior layouts maximize natural light while minimizing glare, creating bright, energy-efficient spaces aligned with human circadian rhythms.
