A welcome from Yerevan
For centuries, Armenia - positioned at the crossroads of civilizations, has stood as a land of bold ideas, vibrant exchange and an enduring hope for a brighter future. Today, as the global World Trade Center (WTC) movement enters its next chapter, Yerevan is ready to translate that heritage into a future of sustainable growth, international commerce and worldclass infrastructure. This is the story of how an idea born in New York turned into a worldwide ecosystem and how it now takes shape in Armenia with a project designed to be as welcoming as our city, as ambitious as our people and as connected as our diaspora.
From an icon to an ecosystem
The World Trade Center concept began as a bold real estate statement, a distinctive and iconic symbol on the skyline. Established in 1970 in New York City, the first WTC building (North Tower) completed in 1970, and WTC complex officially opened in 1973. Over five decades the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) has evolved into something broader: a global platform for trade, investment and urban drive that links physical hubs with services, relationships and shared knowhow. The WTCA now connects 300+ cities in 90+ countries and access to 1 million+ affiliated companies, enabling local firms to think and grow globally.
The Association’s mission is clear: Connecting Businesses Globally, with values rooted in openness, multicultural collaboration and nonpolitical alignment. These are competitive advantages, allowing WTCs to convene public and private partners across geographies and viewpoints, to convert opportunity into outcomes.
What changed: beyond buildings to impact
Modern WTCs combine real estate with a suite of comprehensive trade services: trade missions, curated B2B introductions, corporate matchmaking, global event platforms, education and many more. These are all dedicated to shortening the distance between ambitious aims and realistic achievements.
A community of practice. Membership isn’t just assets and logos; it’s people growing together. The WTCA events calendar of General Assembly, Member Forum, and Regional Meetings keeps members connected to best practices and new markets.
How the brand catalyzes urban transformation
Urban impact begins with place. The WTC emblem brings instant global recognition and a marquee standing that attracts premium tenants and worldclass partners, then multiplies that advantage through the network. Members report results like lower vacancy rates, higher rents and longer leases, because the building is more than an address, it’s a globally trusted brand, it’s a gateway to opportunity.
The brand effect is measurable. As one WTC leader notes, the WTC brand has contributed up to 50% higher rents than comparable space in certain markets. While outcomes vary by city, the pattern is consistent: status + connectivity translates into investment, jobs and visibility for the wider urban economy.
Introducing World Trade Center Yerevan
A landmark with purpose
World Trade Center Yerevan builds on this global evolution. Envisioned as an iconic, Grade A, net-zero mixed use development in the city center, bringing offices, hospitality, retail and event infrastructure together to serve business, culture and community. The project’s timeline targets key milestones, set to be ready in 2030. Throughout these years, the focus is disciplined: deliver sustainability and quality, create momentum and set a standard that elevates the city.
Scale and substance
The development is advancing through a public-private partnership framework, reflecting shared commitment to long-term economic value. The project targets <150,000 sqm of gross built area and represents around USD 300 million of investment.
The program anticipates:
• approximately 26,000 sqm of offices,
• 20,000 sqm of retail,
• a 4 /5 star hotel and branded apart hotel
• MICE ready (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) spaces to host industry forums, global trade fairs and cultural gatherings.
We believe space can shape ambition
Set near 22 Martiros Saryan Street, the site will replace an old structure with a contemporary, sustainable building that embraces our city’s rhythm of promenades, cafes, conversation and collaboration. In spirit, it will embody Armenian hospitality, thoughtful and warm, while offering cosmopolitan standards for international guests and investors.
A building can build the future. Engineered for Armenia, WTC Yerevan is tightly aligned with the modern world. The project is built for seismic safety to international norms and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, pursuing a Zero Carbon strategy supported by efficient systems, water and smart waste management.
Outcomes that matter for Armenia
What does this mean for our city and country? Tangible economic gains and new global reach.
- Jobs & skills
Construction is expected to support 2,500+ jobs, with thousands more across operations in hospitality, events, retail and business services once opened. The platform also equips SMEs through training in international trade practices and catalyzes talent development through university partnerships.
- FDI and exports
As one of Armenia's largest FDI led project, WTCY will simultaneously help channel income, knowhow and market access to Armenian businesses and startups. Through the WTCA network, companies gain curated B2B introductions, partnerships and targeted collaboration opportunities in 300+ locations worldwide.
- Visibility and convening power
With first of its kind MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) infrastructure and facilities, Yerevan can host sector summits and global business forums, showcasing Armenian innovation, bold mind and creativity.
- A better address for business
The WTC brand helps attract premium tenants and longer term leases, supporting a resilient, diversified downtown economy. In turn, those tenants increase collaboration with universities, accelerators and supply chain partners, strengthening the local ecosystem.
The Business Hub: Starts here, goes global!
WTCY is more than a building, it’s a Business Hub, a member driven platform established to take Armenian companies global with practical, high touch support.
- B2B Matchmaking & corporate introductions. Tailored 1:1 connections across the WTCA network, coordinated to your growth goals.
- Trade missions (inward & outbound). Sector specific and multisector delegations to turn conversations into deals.
- Education that meets you where you are. From Global Expansion Activation and Deep Dive curated programs to roundtables on finance, ESG and digital trade, content designed for startups and SMEs as well as established exporters.
- Events with global reach. Access to the WTCA General Assembly, Member Forum and Regional Meetings keeps your team plugged into trends and partners worldwide.
This is the “global handshake” in action: human, personal and purposeful, exactly how business is done in Armenia, now complemented by a worldwide network.
Design principles: iconic, sustainable and welcoming
Iconic where it counts. The WTC identity carries a distinguished reputation that elevates an address and a city, what the WTCA calls “marquee standing”. With world-renowned firms like SOM, BIG, OMA, and Foster + Partners vying to shape its architecture in Yerevan, WTCY gains a true flagship: a place that is distinctive, efficient, resilient, and ready for the future.
Sustainability you can feel. Net-zero strategies, smarter systems, inclusive design and healthy indoor environments will make WTCY a benchmark for the Caucasus region. When paired with seismic safety and the convenience of mixed-use amenities, we create a campus where productivity and wellbeing reinforce each other.
A welcome that’s unmistakably Armenian. From the way we host delegations to the way we curate events, WTCY will reflect our character, open, warm, and respectful, while championing inclusion across sectors and generations. That ethos aligns with WTCA’s brand values of multicultural cooperation and respect.
Our promise: Igniting the new era!
What started as an architectural idea in New York, is now a worldwide movement for cities that want growth with purpose. In Yerevan, that purpose is inclusive prosperity:
• thousands of jobs,
• catalyst for SMEs,
• magnet for investment,
• calendar of signature events
• daily rhythm of meetings, cooperation and collaboration.
Above all, it will be a place for people, a welcoming home for conversations that unlock possibility. That is the Armenian way and it is how we will ignite the new era in Yerevan.
